What is Gertrude’s responsibility for all that has taken place, according to Hamlet?

According to you?

  1. According to me, Gertrude's remarriage made Hamlet's father's murder even worse. Gertrude was manipulated by Claudius, just like a tool at his disposal. Gertrude's action gives me a bit of understanding why Hamlet would condemn women, especially his mother. Gertrude's responsibility on all that has happened is heavy. The beginning point was the death of King Hamlet but the essential part for Claudius to continue onto everything up until now and later is the remarriage of Gertrude with Claudius. Hamlet probably has the same train of thought.

  2. According to me, Gertrude is not a good mother, and she is responsible to make things worse for his beloved son, Hamlet. She is a kniving, stupid and a weak women. I say this, because she married Cladius to avoid feeling alone. That is what I think, and see her the same way as Hamlet does. She has made everything worse, because Hamlet lost a father and she married his murderer. Gertrude also made Hamlet wait for his kingship, he was the next in line. Well, I feel that Gertrude is not a good example of a mother!

  3. According to me, and Hamlet, everything that has happened is Gertrude’s fault. Starting from marrying his deceased husband’s brother. If she hadn’t done that, Hamlet would’ve got home to only learn that his father was murdered, but he would’ve gotten the throne himself. He would’ve gotten back with Ophelia, and everything would’ve turned out well, but if it wouldn’t have been for Gertrudes actions, none of this would’ve happened.

  4. Gertrude cant be blamed for Hamlet´s unhappiness. Although she is not a character that has done much to improve Hamlet´s mood. Again, Hamlet is blaming "a women" for all of the injustices that brought him to where he is know. Yes, she has some responsibility in the matter. she did married her ex-husbands murderer/brother. But how else would she cope upon the situation? She could have waited a bit longer but as a queen.. what else is left to do? but to go on with your life as best as you can, she might not been a good example of a mother but,she makes mistakes as any human being (Hamlet, for example)

  5. Hamlet belives that many of the problems that he is having and this showing of the ghost is because his mother was not a loyal wife and she betrayed Hamlet, his husband and herself. She must be judge sevirly by and Hamlet treats her as if she was the worst creature on the entire earth.

  6. Gertrude to me is just too innocent to be even true. How could she buy that Claudius even loved her? If I were in her position I would have thought about the things, instead of letting a man play with my feelings. She should have just taken a step back and look at the whole panorama. Her husband just died and then all of a sudden the kings brother claims to love her, or most likely he is interested in the kings place that reads vacancy. After that she dose not talk to her son about what just happened until it is too late. A good mother should have been worried about his son rather than her new feelings toward her new lover at night. To make i9t even worse, she doesn’t even act towards the fact that there taking her son away against his consent. Could she not see that Hamlet just needs some help after all that has been doe to him? In my personal opinion Gertrude is so responsible for making Hamlets life even more difficult.

  7. Hamlet blames all of his problems to Getrude because he thinks that by marrying the brother of his father, made alot of problem involving him. Getrude married a murder and she dosent even remember his firs husband. I think tht is very disrespectuful and that Hamlet is acting the right way with her.

  8. Gertrude has made things worse of what they already are. After the death of the king she married Hamlets uncle, which just made Hamlets fathers death worse. I believe she has much of the responsibility among all the problems that have rised. I am with Hamlet on this one, she should be punished, all the deaths we have and will see in Hamlet shall all be in a way Gertrudes fault.

  9. According to Hamlet, all this mess is Gertrude´s fault, and I agree with him. I agree because Gertrude had the power of avoiding it all, but she did not, therefore she is responsible. If she hadn´t become Claudius lover, the King would probably still live. If she had never married Claudius, then Hamlet wouldn´t be so pissed about the whole thing. If she had done these two little things differently, everyone would still be coherent and living their lives as they wished.

Gertrude was the one who had the worse responsiblity in all of this, she was the one that had a greater part in the complot and therefore it was her fault the fact that hamlet is so mad at both her and claudius, she is responsible and the one tha has the descion in her hands and therefore she is who has the fault of breaking the habit of hamlet anger.

  11. According to me, Gertrude has very much responsibility for all that has happened. Starting with remarrying his dead husband's brother. Following by showing a lack of care or sadness for the King's death and finally for standing by Claudius more than by Hamlet who is his son. This causes all of Hamlet's anger and problems appart from Ophelia.
